The University of Mount Union is excited to announce that its annual Schooler Lecture will feature Dawn Staley, head coach of the University of South Carolina Women’s Basketball Team and a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, taking place on the Mount Union campus Wednesday, April 23 at 7 p.m.
This year’s Schooler Lecture moderator is Olympic gold medalist and two-time WNBA championship coach, Dan Hughes.
Hughes spent more than 44 years in coaching men’s and women’s basketball and was named WNBA Coach of the Year, first in 2001, after guiding the Cleveland Rockers to a 22-10 mark, and again in 2007, after posting a 20-14 record with San Antonio. Prior to the WNBA, he served as the assistant coach for the University of Toledo’s women’s and men’s basketball programs. He also served as the assistant men’s basketball coach with then Mount Union College between 1982 and 1991.
The Annual Schooler Lecture Series at Mount Union was established in 1988 with grant funding from the Schooler Family Foundation. This longstanding series brings notable public figures to Alliance to share impactful stories with the community at large. Recent lecturers have included Erin Brockovich, Margaret Atwood and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

The Mount Union Alliance will perform on Sunday, April 27 at 3 p.m. in Brush Performance Hall in the Giese Center for the Performing Arts.
The performance, entitled "Spring Celebration" will encompass many genres of music ranging from the 1500s -1980s, with work by composers like Josquin Des Prez, Alessandro Scarlatti, Matyas Seiber, William Dawson and Rogers and Hammerstein.
General admission tickets are $8 and free for all students and Mount Union faculty and staff. Tickets can be ordered online or by phone at (330) 821-2565. Box Office hours are from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday when classes are in session. The box office will also open for ticket sales one hour before the performance.

The Mount Union Choirs will perform their spring concert in Brush Performance Hall of the Giese Center for the Performing Arts.
The concert, entitled "Awakening" will feature Voce Bassa, Kantorei, Cantus, and the Concert Choir.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors/veterans. The event is free to all Mount Union faculty, staff, and students by using their purple plus number.
Additionally, all children and students are free. Those free tickets must be ordered in person at the Box Office or by calling (330) 821-2565.
